Ras Al Khaimah: A Bangladeshi labourer cut off his own forefinger after a snake bit him, to ensure the poison would not spread to the rest of his body.
The labourer then ran to Obaid Allah Hospital for treatment. The physicians there referred him to the Surgery Department at Saqr Hospital.
He then underwent several medical tests that proved his body was clear of poison as the snake which bit him was not poisonous.
Medical sources said that cutting off his finger was a mistake, and that a piece of fabric placed on wound would have worked fine.
When the doctors asked about the cut off finger so that they could attach it, the nervous labourer was unable to recollect how and where he cut off his finger.
Doctors treated the wounds and admitted him to the ward for further care.
